Commission Information

Painting commissions from photographs
Pet Portraits

Photograph requirements

I work from photographs when painting a pet portrait and so you would need to see these before I can agree to take on your commission. If you have any pictures of your pet I will be happy to have a look at them to see if they are suitable for me to work from. They will need to be clear, preferably close up and taken at eye level and be a good colour representation of your pet. Photographs taken in natural light, without flash are best. If you require a full body painting it is still very helpful to send close up photographs of your pets head and shoulders as well. If you are having more than one pet in the portrait it is helpful to see a photograph of them all together so that I can judge their relative sizes. It is advisable to avoid really strong sunlight when taking your photographs as this can create heavy shadows and squinting eyes. If you can send several photographs to me I can then build up a better image of your pet.

If you do not have any suitable photographs and live reasonably local to me I will gladly come and take photographs for you. If your pet has sadly passed away, please send what photographs you have and I will see if I can work from them.

ALL PHOTOGRAPHS WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU

Other Commissions

If you would like me to do a painting or drawing of a different subject other than a pet, say a garden, scene, house or flower portrait please get in touch and we can discuss details and ideas.
